2nd Community Tournament Overview

Start Date: Mid September 2010 - actual date to be announced soon
Sign Up: Starting August 1st

What is this tournament all about?
This tournament will consist of two separate competitions: 1v1 competition and 2v2 competition. In the 1v1 competition, players will be chosen at random to play battles against each other and the winner will go on to the next round. In the 2v2 competition, teams will be chosen at random to play battles against each other and the winners will go on to the next round. Teams should be decided before the tournament begins and cannot be changed during the tournament.

Rounds.
The number of rounds will depend on the players that have signed up, and all opposing players/teams will be chosen at random for each round.

Rules.
The players will pick a name and a GMT group.

GMT zone USA: from GMT -11 to GMT -2
GMT zone EU: from GMT -1 to GMT +3
GMT zone RUS: from GMT +4 to GMT +12

Timing of Games.
All players and teams will agree upon a time to play their match.

'Elimination Tree'.
When signing in, players/teams can decide which timegroup they would like to be in (USA, EU, RUS). These timegroups are based on timezones, not actual nationalities, so players in Australia should choose the RUS timezone, players in Africa would choose EU, and so on. The elimination tree will be built up in such a way as to maximize the number of battles in the same timezone group to avoid organization problems. The players/teams will be randomly chosen, and the draw will also set the starting positions for the first round. After that the players will progress via the elimination tree.

General Rules.
*If one player (or two players of a team) doesn't show up, without an acceptible reason, that player (or team) automatically loses the match. If one player of a team doesn't show up, the remaining player has the choice of forfeiting the match or taking Easy AI as ally.
*Matches can be rescheduled at the discretion of all players involved in the match, but they must announce that they have changed the battle time.
*Use 1 account/username per player. Multiple accounts are strictly against the rules.
*Be polite and fair with your opponents.
*More rules will be announced in the future.

Rules for Gameplay.
*Strictly no-cheating or glitching allowed.
*Matches are to be played with ANY FACTION vs. ANY FACTION, except where it may be specified otherwise.
*Maps will be decided by the organizers, and all battles will be played in 'Secure The Base' mode.

Wow, I haven't been on here in ages (or played OoW in ages for that matter :P )is the tournament still going ahead Kage?
Are people still playing the game? Or are we all waiting for MoW AS ;)
I have played a lot of Napoleon Total War of late with regard to RTS but after finishing several campaigns on that I feel a calling back to grass routes WWII and for some reason I just cannot get back into CoH these days :D

I have a hankering for playing one or both the original OoW SP campaigns through again so how about an Order of War SP Challenge alongside this one?

We play through either the German or US campaign and post a screenshot after every finished mission to list the scores. The player with the highest overall score for the campaign wins :) (Prizes could be given for top 3 players?). The rules could be that once you have posted a screenshot of a finished mission you have to move onto the next one, i.e. you cannot back track and try and improve your scores etc. Time limits could be set for finishing each mission with a deadline of say 10 days to play each mission and post your score. Hence you can play a mission as often as you like over 10 days but you can only submit 1 score.

Thoughts?
